The Classical Traditions Initiative and the Department of Classics at Northwestern University jointly invite applications for a one-year Mellon-Sawyer Postdoctoral Fellowship in Classics to begin September 2009. We seek a recent Ph.D. with an active research interest in the reception of Greek drama. Ph.D. in classics or cognate field must be completed by the start date.
The successful candidate will work closely with Northwestern faculty to run a year-long seminar series (2009-10) on the reception of Greek drama in 19th and 20th century USA (see www.sawyerseminar.northwestern.edu), teach a single one-quarter undergraduate course on a topic of her/his choice, and collaborate with Northwestern faculty to develop electronic resources on the topic Classicizing Chicago.
Previous experience in conference or website development an asset. Women and members of minority groups are encouraged to apply. EOE/AA. Competitive salary, travel, moving, and computing expenses.
