Minor Requirements
Students may earn a minor in Latin, in Greek, or in Classical Studies. Each option allows students to survey aspects of classical culture and classical traditions or to take a more focused cluster of courses.
Minor in Latin
Prerequisite -- Latin 101-3 or equivalent placement
Minor course requirements -- 6 courses
- 3 Latin courses at the 200 or 300 level
- 3 additional Latin and/or Classics courses, one of which must be at the 300 level; may include one Classical Traditions course by permission of the DUS
Minor in Greek
Prerequisite -- Greek 101-3 or equivalent placement
Minor course requirements -- 6 courses
- 3 Greek courses at the 200 or 300 level
- 3 additional Greek and/or Classics courses, one of which must be at the 300 level; may include one Classical Traditions course by permission of the DUS
Prerequisites -- None. This track requires no ancient languages. Students are free to examine any aspect of Greek and Roman antiquity or its traditions and reception in medieval through contemporary Western culture.
Minor course requirements -- 6 courses
Classics majors may substitute additional 200- or 300-level courses from the second list below in place of courses in the first list
- 2 courses from the following list: Classics 210, 211, 212, 260
- 4 additional Classics, Classical Traditions, Greek, or Latin courses, at least 2 of which must be at the 300-level (and none at the 100 level)
